We packed up in the Gold Coast and drove to Eatons Hill, a suburb of Brisbane, to visit Chris and Jo Jones. Reche had met Chris in Australia when they were both travelling here, Chris visited us in Canada, then we visited him a couple of times in England, where he met and married Jo. Jo was actually born in Australia (although brought up in England), Chris loved Australia, and they ended up immigrating here. Chris has just received his Australian citizenship.
Chris drove us around the area. Dave got his meat pies for lunch. We went to the Glass Mountains and to a huge sand island just off the coast. We drove on the beach - people go camping there (more frequently when it's not winter!) So in a nice afternoon's drive from their home you can do both the mountains (more hills) and the ocean.
Then we came back and had barbequed steak and sweet lips (a fish) and prawns (or rather, Jo and Dave had the prawns). We sat out on their patio, which was winterized with plastic blinds for walls and a little propane heater. It would be great if we could use our outdoor spaces so easily in the winter.
They are taking us into Brisbane before we head to the airport today. Great hosts.

I didn't realize you were going to see Chris while you were in Australia! Who would have thought when Chris and I met 10 years ago backpacking through Australia that you would be visiting him there now? Crazy awesome.
