I never took any photos today, so I'll just us another of yesterday's, from Standly Chasm.Today we got up, packed, checked out of the hotel, leaving our stuff there, and took a cab downtown. He went the long way around because the Todd River was flowing even more, and they had put down the barricades (kind of like the arms that drop down at level crossings of the railway) at the causeway we usually crossed at. I guess yesterday's rain had made it down from the mountains. Prior to this January, the Todd River had not flowed for 14 months. The flowing river while we were in town was the fifth time since then (Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr and Jul). That is why we will always think of Alice Springs with a green haze on the hills and the desert, and water in the river. Which usually is the entirely wrong impression.
We had breakfast in a cafe on Todd Mall that we had been at before, and the same busker was there on the street. I found him greatly entertaining. He was an aborigine who sang and played guitar well, but had a tendancy to make up his own songs. One today was the tune of Mac the Knife, but the words had to do with ordering a cappucino at the Red Dog cafe (where we were) on a Wednesday morning at the Todd Mall. And then most of his songs ended with "yee haw", no matter how inappropriate.
We had a 12:40 flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide - as a matter of interest, Qantas fed us lunch again. It does that a lot. We would never get lunch on a flight of less than 2 hours in Canada.
On arrival in Adelaide we checked into our accomodation - another Breakfree apartment, this one upscale from our one in Sydney (which was fine, but this is 2 bedrooms, generally larger and the building is nicer). We walked around a bit, hit a grocery store, and bought things for soup and sandwiches at home for dinner. It was a treat to eat at home. We have two couches and can be quite comfortable watching TV, although 3 couches would be even better (we can't all lay down).

How attitudes change after you've been travelling for almost a month: "Eating at home" means eating in the room you've just arrived at hours earlier!
Sounds like your trip from Alice Springs to Adelaide was faster than the trip I took the other way. I think we spent two or three nights camping on our way.
Enjoy the last few days of your travels. We're looking forward to having you home again. :)
The room we'd just arrived in was a 2 bedroom apartment, so did feel a little homelike!
